Polyamorous London-dweller and eternal optimist, writing about relationships, polyamory and non-monogamy, and attempting to reach a bit more self-knowledge too. Philosophically uncomfortable with the idea of pre-determined primary-vs-secondary poly, but practically currently primary-style enmeshed with just one marvellous person – but if you come across references to ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ relationships, assume I mean the terms descriptively, not prescriptively.
I’m also beginning to look at mapping philosophical/ethical systems onto non-monogamy – I studied philosophy (some time ago…) to undergraduate level, and miss it; this seemed like a fun way of setting myself some interesting reading.
I’m borrowing the name of Polly Oliver for this blog – because she was a faithful and honest (well, except for the disguise) lover who stepped outside the norms of what society expected of her to Get Good Things Done. Oh, and because in some versions of the song, you get this verse:
‘If I should meet a pretty girl that’s proper tall and gay,
If I should take a fancy to her, Polly, what would you say?
Would you not be offended?’ ‘Oh no, my lover true,
I’d stand aside, dear William, while she does pleasure you.’
I wrote with the Poly Means Many blogging project – find links to all the latest at Poly Means Many.
This blog is temporarily on hold – unless and until I find something I can’t leave un-commented-on.
